Attached to Coventry City

Om boken

Attached to Coventry City is a highly personal and reflective account of what it truly means to support a football club.

Why would a teenager devote his heart and soul to an average Third Division side, only to walk away at the height of its success? And after two decades in the wilderness, what could bring him back in a moment that feels almost like conversion?

The answers lie in the psychology of attachment. Through the story of his own support for Coventry City, James Adams explores the emotional bonds that tie fans to their clubs – and why those connections endure, fracture and ultimately return.

Spanning decades, from the days of Billy Frith to the modern era under Mark Robins, this book places one supporter’s journey alongside the highs and lows of the Sky Blues: three Wembley victories, four promotions, FA Cup heartbreak and, ultimately, a long-awaited return to the Premier League.

Combining memoir, reflection and football history, Attached to Coventry City offers a unique insight into the experience of supporting the Sky Blues and the lasting bond between a club and its fans.
