Back at Last

Om boken

Back At Last is the story of how Coventry City finally returned to the Premier League, ending a 25-year journey.

Relegated in 2001 after 34 consecutive years in English football’s top flight, Coventry City were expected to bounce back quickly. Instead, the club endured a generation of struggle: multiple relegations, administration and years spent playing away from their home city, as uncertainty and instability took hold.

In 2025/26, the journey finally came to an end. Under Frank Lampard, Coventry City took the Championship by storm, scoring goals freely and securing the title at a canter to seal their return to the Premier League.

Told with the insight of key figures including Steve Ogrizovic, Liam Kelly, Dave Boddy and Michael Doyle, Back At Last charts a record-breaking season in full – from the defining matches and winning runs to the off-the-pitch moments that reshaped the club’s future, including the deal that brought the CBS Arena back into Coventry City’s hands.
