Developmental Psychology

Om boken

Developmental Psychology, 3rd edition, covers the topics and concepts required by the British Psychological Society. With a clear and straightforward style, this easy-to-follow textbook addresses the social and cognitive strands of child development into emerging adulthood. Following a topical organisation, this resource provides an intuitive pathway through the core topics. This third edition has been fully updated with contemporary research, globally relevant, diverse examples and a new section of ten case studies which focus on the clinical and applied aspects of the subject.

The new case studies are written by leading experts to provide an opportunity to explore something already mentioned in the book in more detail, through the lens of a real or imagined example of a child or adolescent. These case studies could be used individually or in class-based learning activities, promoting engagement with literature.

Each case study focuses on a specific construct or concept introduced in one of the chapters, including:

ADHD
Head injury in a child
Autism
Gender dysphoria
Dyslexia
Multilingual families
Attachment disorder – how childhood attachment affects later romantic relationships
Transition to university
Mid-life crisis
Dementia
