”The higher purpose of every human being is to accept and love themselves.
This is the foundation and the source of all other love.”
”The leader shows the way.
That is to say, the leader’s personal development guides the co-workers or the children in their own development.
That is the foundation of leadership."
Every person’s experience of their relationships with other people consists of projections from his or her own inner relations, those between oneself and one’s own sub-personalities. A person is com 2 3 The method and term Self-love is created, developed and trademarked by Annika Sundbom Åström. Projection: a term used in psychology to describe how we humans transmit our subconscious picture of ourselves onto our surroundings, like a projector. Characteristics that we cannot acknowledge as our own we attribute to others instead. prised of many sub-personalities that frequently form dualities. Often certain of these sub-personalities develop more than others due to the situations we find ourselves in and the value judgments we make. This is fantastic as it gives us each a unique set of skills that we can draw upon throughout our lives. The problem arises when there is an imbalance and these sub-personalities come into conflict within a duality, when one part takes a greater role and are more valued than the other. When sub-personalities are engaged in internal conflict it may lead to antagonism or uneasiness in deal ing with certain other people. This uneasiness is caused when the individual unconsciously projects the characteristics of their own despised sub-personality onto another person or group. This is not beneficial in the long term as the conflict consumes energy. It is an automatic reaction and does give some short term inward comfort from the uneasiness caused by the conflict. When we then speak badly of someone who has a characteristic we cannot abide it is ourselves we are speaking ill of. ”What you say about others says more about you”.
Om författaren Annika Sundbom Åström:
Annika is a unique social developer working independently, with international peace, community, and development as her goals. She works as a leadership developer with a wide range of leaders—from local business executives to international diplomats and peace mediators. Based in Sollefteå, in an old merchant’s villa she shares with her family, Annika welcomes leaders from across Sweden, takes on assignments for the United Nations in New York, and offers leadership development in places like Kathmandu. She has deep knowledge of how we, both individually and collectively, shape our relationships—with ourselves and with the world around us. In essence, how we create war or peace, and most importantly, how we cultivate peace and connection—both internally and externally—in ways that are lasting. She is currently the subject of an academic research study, where peace researcher Dr. M. Lindgren has followed her work for two years.
