Secret Gardens of Cornwall

Om boken

"A glorious celebration of some of the finest gardens in a county whose climate makes them especially breathtaking." – Alan Titchmarsh

"What a beautiful book. I just want to rush off and see all the gardens." – Rick Stein

Step inside twenty of Cornwall’s most magical private gardens.

Secret Gardens of Cornwall reveals the horticultural heart of a county shaped by ocean light, early springs, hidden valleys, and dramatic clifftops.

Introduced by Sir Tim Smit KBE, co‑founder of the award‑winningEden Project, this book explores each garden through the perceptive writing of Tim Hubbard—who has lived and gardened in Cornwall for over forty years—and the atmospheric photography of Jo and Rob Whitworth. Together, they reveal the individuality of every garden and the distinctive challenges and rewards of cultivating plants at the edge of the Atlantic.

Featured gardens include:

Bonython Estate Gardens—structured colour and South African influences on the Lizard Peninsula.
Caervallack—an artist’s garden of sculptural cob walls and imaginative planting.
Chygurno—vertiginous clifftop terraces with sweeping views over Lamorna Cove.
Lamorran House Gardens—a Mediterranean‑inspired sanctuary overlooking Falmouth Bay.
Minack Theatre Gardens—extraordinary coastal planting surrounding a world‑famous open‑air theatre.
Penjerrick Garden—exuberant subtropical woodland with tree ferns, gunneras, and rare exotics.

Whether you are seeking inspiration, planning visits, or simply savoring the beauty of Cornwall’s landscapes, this book is an essential companion for garden lovers drawn to the magic and diversity of the county.
