In The Gardens of the Hamptons, lifestyle writer and photographer Blue Carreon showcases a luxurious collection of gardens with vibrant photography and stories of the garden owners.
The Hamptons are well known for being the place to be in summer for sunshine, luxury, and fun. Their exquisite gardens are the backdrop for social gatherings, family activities, and places to contemplate nature. In his new book, Blue Carreon showcases over fifty wonderful examples of lush gardens from West Hampton to Montauk. This includes the famous Grey Gardens, restored and revitalized by its new owner, fashion designer Liz Lange; and the sprawling private, art-filled garden of Barnes & Noble founder Leonard Riggio and his wife, Louise.
Each garden owner recounts the motivation behind the vision and design of their dream garden, whether it be an intimate escape or a family-friendly space to make memories. Blue effortlessly conveys each gardener’s sense of pride and the reasons behind the choices of landscape design and architecture, as well as color scheme, flora selection, and incorporation of art.
The Gardens of the Hamptons also includes gardens by top American interior designers, such as Charlotte Moss, who is a gardening expert herself; Marshall Watson, whose garden graces the cover; Sasha Bikoff, who sprinkled her garden with white wildflowers; and Tony Ingrao and Randy Kemper, who own one of the most important and historical gardens in the Hamptons. High-profile landscape architects Ed Hollander, Chris LaGuardia, Eric Groft, Mario Nievera, Fernando Wong, and Craig Socia also feature in the book, having worked on some of the gardens.
A valuable resource for those seeking inspiration on garden design and planting—and the ideal gift for garden-lovers—this book emphasizes the enduring appeal of the Hamptons by featuring many styles of garden: art gardens, contemporary gardens, natural gardens, historic gardens, and many more.
