The Midwife’s Book of Hours

Om boken

Taking its name from the illuminated medieval prayer book form, The Midwife’s Book of Hours takes us on an adventure through the art galleries, palaces and churches of Europe and beyond, and restores a neglected piece of art history.

Rooted in the author’s experience as an advocate and bestselling writer on nursing and midwifery, this compelling and accessible story combines memoir, history, feminism and midwifery from a unique and surprising angle. Posing highly topical questions about representations of women – who gets to tell or suppress their stories – above all The Midwife’s Book of Hours is a stirring and beautifully crafted work that resonates with the challenges women worldwide face today as mothers, midwives and leaders.
