Gawain is 780 years old, tired and drinks to forget. Once a knight of Arthur's court, he is cursed by Merlin to roam the earth on a quest to uncover betrayal and murder. He has spent centuries chasing death while longing for his own.

Destiny calls him to Sempringham Priory where a young novice lies dead. Gawain is drawn into a web of lies, forbidden passions and deadly secrets. The victim, Enid, was no ordinary nun, and she had no ordinary death. When Gawain finds himself drawn to the first woman he has fallen for in centuries, he must choose between her love and catching the killer before his identity is exposed.
