The Spurrier Effect

Om boken

Everyone said it couldn't be done; Steve Spurrier proved them wrong

When he took over a program long labeled underachieving, Steve Spurrier set out to change the culture of a team and the expectations of Gamecock fans everywhere. What resulted was the most successful era in South Carolina football history.

With opening words from Spurrier and former Gamecock quarterback, Connor Shaw, the vivid storytelling of Brent Silvia and Kevin Miller in The Spurrier Effect allows readers to relive historic seasons that included three straight, eleven-win campaigns, signature victories over rival schools, and the development of future NFL stars like Jadeveon Clowney, Alshon Jeffery, and Stephon Gilmore. Exclusive interviews with players and the Head Ball Coach himself place readers on the sideline during some of the biggest games.

Beyond the wins, Silvia and Miller reveal the man behind the visor—his partnership with his wife, Jerri; his relationships with his players; and his fierce competitiveness, sharp wit, and unwavering belief in South Carolina's ability to achieve greatness.
