Om boken

Explore architect Peter Marino’s extraordinary private collection of works in silver by Tiffany & Co.

For more than 180 years, Tiffany & Co. has been synonymous with expert silversmithing. From silver spoons and serving trays to teapots and candelabras, Tiffany has made its indelible mark on American decorative arts. Now, for the first time, readers will enjoy an exclusive look at the personal collection of world-renowned architect Peter Marino, who has acquired his pieces of Tiffany silver over the course of five decades with his ever-discerning eye.

More than just plates with decorative flourishes, Marino’s collection boasts intricately designed pitchers, sugar bowls, trophies, platters, and other exquisite objects that display the full mastery of Tiffany artisans. Gilded butterflies and dragonflies flit across hammered silver surfaces, while fish swim among delicately engraved seagrass and mixed-metal irises appear in full blossom.

Meticulously produced in a lavish oversize format, the book features more than 130 photographs of these unique pieces, along with original design drawings from the Tiffany Archives, offer a dazzling view of these wide-ranging works in silver.

This luxe volume alsoincludes a foreword by Marino and an insightful introduction by silver experts Spencer Gordon, III, and Mark F. McHugh – the founders of Spencer Marks – placing Marino’s superb collection within the overall context of Tiffany’s history, as well as American decorative arts in general.
