We Say Shalom

Om boken

We Say Shalom is a 40-day journey combining language, poetry, and reflections that empowers readers to create connections with anyone around them, regardless of their differences. In an age of global disunity, We Say Shalom invites the reader to embrace the slow journey toward unity through adopting new ideas and reshaping your perspective about God's creation.

Acclaimed artist and educator Nigel Darius is widely recognized as a translator of the human experience. With years of conversational practice under his belt, Nigel values living with a mindset of curiosity in order to forge cross-cultural relationships.

In an era where empathy needs both instruction and encouragement, We Say Shalom will act as a guide into the often-uncomfortable call to connect with those who are unlike us. Nigel invites readers on a forty-day journey of language, art, poetry, and reflections highlighting the fact that our innate differences are not threats but rather divine gifts. Through beautiful, bite-sized insights from various languages and cultures, each reading features a word, an icon, and a short reflection paired with an introspective invitation.

Informed by many of Nigel's most profound conversations with individuals from diverse faith and cultural backgrounds, this book will:

Illustrate how inquisitiveness, critical thinking, and connectivity are essential for experiencing the fullness of peace and unity
Teach us how to understand and effectively communicate with others amidst differences
Equip us to engage in cultural, spiritual, and emotional conversations
Empower us to bridge seemingly impassable cultural and religious differences
Promote a deeper connection with God by understanding the beauty and complexity of His creation.

Through new words that encapsulate experiences and emotions you might not have had language for, you'll learn how to engage with God and His image bearers around you by discovering commonalities and shared stories.
