When in Menopause is a bold, brilliant, and much needed guide that blends science, storytelling, and powerful advocacy. –Dr. Mary Claire Haver, #1 New York Times Bestselling Author of The New Menopause
Menopause is Having a Moment – so say the daily headlines. Leading voices, from medical experts to celebrities, have helped coalesce a powerful global movement that is demanding a long-overdue course correction in menopause care after decades of silence and stigma.
Enter When in Menopause by Jennifer Weiss-Wolf. Ever since her debut book Periods Gone Public was lauded by Gloria Steinem as “the beginning of liberation for us all,” Weiss-Wolf has brought the same energy to forging a new approach to menopause – one that enables individuals, communities, and lawmakers alike commit to a better future. Designated an Architect for Change by women’s health champion Maria Shriver, Weiss-Wolf’s vision and voice are exactly what the moment calls for.
When in Menopause arms us to stand up and speak out – to improve all of our lives (our daughters’ and granddaughters’ too). Wherever you are in your advocacy journey – whether you’re demanding better treatment at your doctor’s office or navigating the shopping aisle, organizing your workplace or local community, or lobbying policymakers to increase funding for menopause research and ensure access to quality care – When in Menopause will show you the way forward.
With a foreword by New York Times bestselling author and menopause expert Sharon Malone, MD, When in Menopause is an essential companion to expert health and self-help books. Dedicated solely to the “how to” of menopause advocacy it covers:
· Speaking up for yourself to get the care you need and deserve, while bringing your family along on the journey.
· Advocating for and with friends, neighbors, and colleagues by creating local, community, and workplace engagement opportunities.
· Knowing what your employer can and should offer in terms of menopause benefits – but also understanding the limits of those policies and gaps in the law.
· Fighting for change in the halls of government, especially in your own state, for things like mandatory insurance coverage of menopause treatments, improved provider training, and public health education – along with the practical tools to become an effective champion for change.
