Redefining the angling experience by focusing on the beauty of remote, natural environments and native fish species, this new guide moves away from commercial fisheries and overstocked ponds to introduce the reader to wild fishing. Those who are keen to follow this more sustainable, eco-conscious and affordable approach will find the book packed with detailed information on accessing hundreds of magnificent wild fishing spots across the UK, many of them free or only requiring low-cost permits. rom tranquil rivers to wild, rugged coastlines, the guide highlights the joys of such hidden gems as the River Wandle, in London, where anglers can cast their lines in the same waters once fished by Admiral Nelson, along with Chesil Beach, in Dorset, where deep waters can be reached just metres from shore, and the River Test, in Winchester, where anglers can fish for free along one of England’s most famous chalk streams. In Wales, the mystical Llyn Ogwen, in Snowdonia, offers wild brown trout and a backdrop steeped in Arthurian legend while other remote sites include Loch Maree, in Wester Ross, where sea trout can be fished against the looming drama of Slioch, a Munro. For those seeking a coastal adventure, Pembrokeshire’s wild shores provide a unique opportunity to fish from the cliffs of Ceibwr Bay. Here, anglers might spot porpoises while waiting for sea trout to bite. Further south, the rugged beauty of Cornwall’s coastline offers thrilling night fishing, casting for bass under the stars. An invitation to reconnect with nature as much as it is a guide to landing the catch, whether you dream of hiking through remote mountain valleys, fishing from the edge of a secluded lake, or casting a line into deep coastal waters, this guide offers an unparalleled introduction to Britain’s 700 most spectacular, lesser-known and wildest fishing locations.
