Reform or Die

Om boken

In Reform or Die, seven women theologians avoid the double pitfall of destructive pessimism and blissful optimism and propose an approach which is based on biblical, theological, but also sociological and pastoral expertise. They address the most urgent subjects: the lessons of the abuse crisis, the place given to women, synodality, welcoming the poorest, and the challenges of inclusion in the contemporary world.

"These essays are seven invitations to dare to live out the Gospel in freedom, determination, and boldness." So states the foreword to this collection of essays by seven women theologians who address issues of concern in today's Catholic Church—issues such as the fallout from the sexual abuse scandals, the structure of religious life, the role of women in the Church, the importance of listening to the poor, and the need for inclusion and inculturation.

"This inspiring and challenging volume is a timely examination of conscience for a faith community continuing to grapple with the many pressing topics that affect Catholic Christians across the globe. This book invites deep reflection and should be read by anyone interested in listening to the guiding impulse of the Holy Spirit today!"
—Daniel P. Horan, professor of philosophy, religious studies, and theology, Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame, Indiana.

"The concerns expressed by these European Catholic feminists will resonate with women and men around the world. Faced with the abuse crisis and the failure of the Church to address women's concerns, they challenge the Church to dare to change."
—Susan A. Ross, Loyola University Chicago (emerita)
